Through out the game you'll fight random battles in the Atb, active time based system. You can alter the speed and make it fully active too. After a certain amount of hits or an emotional critical part of the story, you achieve trance. A emotional transformation of your soul and you. You gain special attacks until it runs out. You can alter you abilities worth the abilities system. With ability points, you can enable abilities like protection against status effects or half the usage of magic points.

This is a fine classical entry in the final fantasy series and if you life art, adventure or love, get it. A good return to classic rpgs with a touch of new.
